This school year the Foundation, in partnership with the Morongo Basin Transit Authority, is excited to announce FREE BUS RIDES for current CMC students from August 24, 2020 to May 27, 2021, with a valid student ID.
The MBTA was awarded a Low Carbon Transit Operations Program (LCTOP) funding grant that will subsidize the student fares for the school year 2020-21.
“The LCTOP program funds are annual proceeds from the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund that is designed to help fund projects that will reduce greenhouse emissions by taking more folks out of their car and onto public transportation,” states Mark Goodale, MBTA’s General Manager.
The LCTOP was created to provide operating and capital assistance for transit agencies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve mobility, with a priority on serving disadvantaged communities.
As an approved project, Copper Mountain College students will be able to attend class, use the Greenleaf Library, and handle their business on campus without transportation worries.
“Despite the costs that are often required to attend college, higher education is still one of the best investments that students and their families can make, which is why Copper Mountain College Foundation remains committed to helping students succeed any way they can,” states Sandy Smith, CMCF Executive Director.
